Re: [ARSCLIST] Lazer Turntable

At $18,999 (the $9,500 is a down payment from what I gather, not the full sale price), I doubt he'd be able to cut me a deal I could afford. Let's face it, if I could afford that, then I could afford CEDAR. Besides, he sent me a cd and booklet a few years ago. The cd was meant to demonstrate the difference in sound between a modern turntable and his laser turntable, and I've got to tell you, when it came to playing a 78rpm record, the laser turntable sounded awful. This coupled with the literature claiming that the laser turntable can only play black discs -- meaning it wouldn't be able to play my thousands of red Associated transcriptions, or even a blue Columbia 78 for that matter -- and with the high price tag, I decided to say thanks, but no thanks.

Ahh, the 'new' LT distributor who said he'd NEVER discount the laser turntable is now discounting. Imagine that. Still not a deal. I purchased my LT-2XRC for $1,500 under that including shipping back in 2004 when the exchange rate was ¥10/$ lower than it is today. Unless things have changed recently, the factory is still perfectly happy to deal with you directly and will make a better deal. As the local distributor doesn't and can't offer any support whatsoever (machine MUST be returned to Japan for repair) I see
no benefit whatsoever to using the US distributor. If you want one, contact ELP themselves. Sanjou Chiba will likely be quite happy to cut a deal.

Hello all.

My work is in wax cylinders so it really doesn't apply to me, but the offer for this product looks interesting.
