Interesting.I think I read somewhere "HIT"  was  one of  Obie's first label.Did he put out those paper  "Hit of the Week" records too?Did he haany connection to the later  "HIT" label of the 60s ? Roger

Well, Hit was the label which later became Majestic...and it was
also Obite's second or third stab at starting an indie label
(Varsity begat Elite/Classic/Royale usw. which begat Hit and even
MORE usw...) and Obie kept all the unclaimed masters from all of
the above (in some cases, he sold Majestic masters to other labels
and in others to the artist(s) involved). In fact, he managed to
get the sides RCA pressed for Crown (he was working for RCA at 
that point). IIRC, David Diehl's web site goes into more detail
on his discographic adventures...
