You could buy the CBS test records in most large record stores however I
suspect most US broadcasters used the NAB test records which were made by
RCA and sold by the NAB.

Most, if not all US mastering facilities used the RCA test records that the
RIAA curve was based on. This even included Columbia Records, at least in
San Francisco! I understand the most common benchmark in Europe was a DIN
test record.

The CBS Laboratory discs are the most famous and most common.  Similar discs
were manufactured by B&K in Denmark as well as other organizations.
