Ah! I skipped the ham stage, unfortunately. Seen a lot of FM
transmitter tubes, though. Kept me warm at night inb certain control
rooms...

"Bottle" was once ham-radio slang for tubes, especially the power
amplifiers in transmitters (which were often large enough to have
been bottles!)...
