Re: [ARSCLIST] Unique record-related scents
oh, ps - I've noticed that Edison Blue Amberol records which no longer
smell of camphor seem more prone to cracking edges.
A quick rub on a shirt sleeve is enough to release the camphor odor; if it
is no longer there, then the record has dried out so much that it'll be
likely to crack, soon. I wonder : If they could be stored in an airtight
box, with a source of camphor vapors, would the celluloid remain pliable
enough to avoid edge cracks?
