[ARSCLIST] DC Area ARSC event

From Milton's Monster to Moog Espana and Beyond!!!
 An Electronic Music Extravaganza

For the first program of 2005, the Washington Metropolitan Area Chapter
of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections will present a
listening session and performance of electronic music. Bryan Cornell
will play recordings from uncharted, mind-expanding corners of the
collections of the Library of Congress made on modular synthesizers from
1955-1970. Included in the selections will be recordings made on the
RCA Mark II synthesizer for which Milton Babbit and others at the
Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center regularly composed. We will
also hear recordings of the synthesizers designed by DON BUCHLA and
ROBERT MOOG. The program will also feature LIVE performances by three
electronic artists. PAT GILLIS (of Northern Machine and The Angus
Brainpan) will perform an organized sound improvisation for analogue
modular synthesizer and backing tracks, THE PICTURE IS DEAD will play
songs and project images with electronic accompaniment, and DEREK
MORTON from the Mikroknytes will remix his recent audio installation
called Water Without Liquid.
