                                   Bids

   The City of Boston, acting by the Board of Trustees in charge of the
   Library Department of the City of Boston, hereinafter referred to as
   the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids for performance of the
   work generally described above, and particularly set forth in the
   Invitation for Bids which may be obtained at the Boston Public
   Library, Business Office, Room #305, 700 Boylston Street, Boston,
   Massachusetts commencing at 12 o'clock noon (Boston time), on
   Monday, May 17, 2004.

   Invitation for Bids shall be available until the time of the bid
   opening.

   The original bid and duplicate copy thereof (which may be a
   photocopy), shall be properly filled out, signed, and enclosed in an
   envelope, sealed, plainly marked with the name of the bidder and the
   notation BID followed by a brief description of the item bid upon.

   Every sealed bid shall be submitted on forms obtained from the
   Business Office, Boston Public Library, Room #305, 700 Boylston
   Street, Boston, Massachusetts, and in accordance with, the
   Invitation for Bids. All sealed bids shall be filed no later than
   Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at 12 o'clock noon (Boston time) at the
   office of the Official, Boston Public Library, Business Office, Room
   #305, 700 Boylston Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02116.

   The attention of all bidders is directed to the provisions of the
   Invitation for Bids and contract documents, specifically to the
   requirements for bid deposits and insurance and performance bonds as
   may be applicable.

   A bid deposit in the form of a certified check on a responsible bank
   or trust company, payable to the City of Boston, in the sum of
   $500.00 shall be submitted with the copy of the bid filed with the
   Awarding Authority. Bid bonds will not be accepted.

   A performance bond of a surety company authorized to do business in
   the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, satisfactory to the Awarding
   Authority, and written in the full amount of the Contract will be
   required of the successful bidder.

   Sealed bids shall be publicly opened by the Awarding Authority on
   Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at 12 o'clock noon, at the Boston Public
   Library, Business Office, Room #305, 700 Boylston Street, Boston,
   Massachusetts 02116.

   The award of any contract shall be subject to the approval of the
   Mayor of the City of Boston and the Board of Trustees in charge of
   the Library Department of the City of Boston.

   The maximum time for bid acceptance by the City after the opening of
   bids shall be ninety (90) days.

   The attention of all bidders is specifically directed to the equal
   opportunity section of the bid specification and contract and the
   obligations of the contractor to take affirmative action in
   connection with employment practices throughout the period of this
   contract.

   The City and the Awarding Authority reserve the right to reject any
   or all bids, or any item or items thereof. This contract is subject
   to the approval of the Mayor of the City of Boston and the Board of
   Trustees in charge of the Library Department of the City of Boston.
