In my experience,
most cassette problems are caused by the shell: warpage, poor bearing
manufacture or lubrication, binding of tape pack with the interior of the cassette
shell.
Yes, the best remedy for squeaky cassettes, IMO, is transferring the tape & hubs into new screw-type shells. --Jeff
