I don't have any hard information on this.

My *speculation* is that cassette tape formulations differ markedly from the
professional reel tapes where sticktion is a known problem.  In my experience,
most cassette problems are caused by the shell: warpage, poor bearing
manufacture or lubrication, binding of tape pack with the interior of the cassette
shell.
