With one substantial exception: there is an extra layer of error correction 
on the recording of the WAV file. (There are also minor exceptions in bit 
ordering, subchannel utilization.) The ECC amounts to about 13% of the file 
and is applied in blocks of about 2K; the result is a substantial increase 
in the ability to recover the original in the face of degradation.

Note that a great deal of ECC is applied in all cases since the error rate 
in CD recording/retrieval is very high compared with other digital media. 
Nevertheless, that last layer is of great value for archival purposes.
