Studer A 807 - last orders -- comments

This was just posted to AV-Media Matters mailing list by Dietrich Schueller.

This certainly doesn't bode well for archives with analog audio tape. I 
apologize for cross re-posting this, but I think it's a very important 
message. This is one of the last, if not the last, high-end professional 
tape machines available new for the reproduction of analog archives.

I think that the poster's intent is also very important as we do see 1/4 
and 1/2 track tape in a variety of situations. I'm solving that by a 
separate 1/4-track stereo play head assembly for my Sony APR-5003V.

I also suggest that if you have full-track mono tapes, you try and figure 
out how to get a full-track mono head. I'm not familiar with the A807 and 
whether it has swappable head assemblies and registers to remember the 
setups like the A820 and the Sony APR5000.
