AIC Is Seeking Public Outreach Liaisons
excerpts from a letter by Pam Hatchfield
Public outreach has been identified as a priority for the AIC following a recent survey of its
membership. Regional representatives for public information are
needed to:
- Survey local news publications for articles about conservation
projects--these can be expanded upon and offered to national
publications
- Identify projects in their geographic area or conservation
speciality that would be of wider public interest
- Identify local events such as antique shows and craft fairs
where AIC could establish a presence, and identify people willing to
staff a booth or make presentations
- Develop or improve communication with local or regional museum
associations and provide presentations or workshops
- Develop outlines, bibliographies, and other materials to assist
conservators making public presentations

please write or call Pam Hatchfield, Director for Public
Information, American Institute for Conservation, 1400 Sixteenth
Street NW - Suite 340, Washington, DC, 20036.
