RECENT SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN PAPER CONSERVATION

ABSTRACT—Scientific research in paper conservation since 1988 is discussed and summarized. Research on chemical, physical, and optical properties of paper and on the aging of paper is outlined. A synopsis is given of recent findings in paper conservation concerned with washing, bleaching, solvents, enzymes, and sizing.
