Fibers in a hide or skin that are believed to compose a network which surrounds the collagen fiber bundles and assists in holding them together. Reticular fibers are found in most connective tissue (skin) as a network of fine fibrils which, in sharp distinction to collagen fibers, exhibit marked branching anastomosis. (26 , 248 )
