willow side

A side of a cattle hide, i.e., cut down the backbone, full chrome, semi-chrome, or vegetable tanned, and usually colored brown but also produced in other colors, but never black. It has a grain pattern formed by BOARDING (1) in one direction (head to butt). There is some confusion concerning this leather because at times it is boarded in two directions, producing a grain pattern similar to that of BOX SIDE . (351 )
