watercolor paper
A paper designed to be used with watercolors. It
is a typical drawing paper, either made by hand or
machine; tub sized, and machine, air, or loft
dried. The paper has a hardsized surface, and a
texture designed to enhance the absorption of
watercolors so that they will not run or penetrate
too deeply into the paper. When intended for use
with oil paints, the paper is made to simulate the
surface of canvas. (17 )
