veining liquid

A special marbling size designed to promote the formation of veins in the colors after they are dropped. The size is produced by mixing soft water, e.g., rain water, and soap, in the proportions of 1 1/8 pints of water to 2 ounces of soap. See also: SPRINKLING WATER . (161 )
