two-shot method

A method of applying adhesive in high speed paperback (adhesive) binding. The adhesive binding machine applies a polyvinyl (cold) adhesive as a primer followed by a hot-melt adhesive. It is not as fast a method as the ONE-SHOT METHOD (1) , but it results in a stronger hinge and good cover adhesion. See also: ADHESIVE BINDING .
