starved joint

A joint having too little adhesive to permit a satisfactory bond. A starved joint may be a result of the adhesive being spread too thin to allow complete filling of the gap between adherends, by excessive penetration of the adhesive into the adherends, by inadequate assembly time, or by too great pressure.
