1. The decrease in the width of a paper web as it
travels through the papermaking machine. The
degree of shrinkage varies, depending upon the
weight of the paper, and the degree to which the
pulp is refined, the nature of the fibrous
material used, and the tension in the wet driers.
2. Any decrease in the dimensions of paper,
