print finishing processes

A generic term for the wide range of pre-printing and post-printing operations involved in converting paper into the printed book, or other salable item. These include: 1) actual print finishing processes, such as the storage and preparation of unprinted paper, the cutting to correct size of unprinted and printed sheets, the production of booklets and periodicals (pamphlet binding, stationery and file material, stationery, miscellaneous binding, etc.), the production of labels, posters, calendars, etc., assembly work (boxing, set-making, etc.), as well as gumming, varnishing, laminating, packing, and shipping; 2)BOOKBINDING ; and 3) box and carton manufacture.
