potassium ferrocyanide
A yellow, crystalline salt (K 4 Fe(CN)
6 ), prepared by the reaction of
potassium cyanide with ferrous salts, and used in
combination with other substances as a paper
fungicide. Although only slightly toxic under
normal circumstances, it can form extremely toxic
gases if heated strongly or mixed with hot,
concentrated acids. Also called "yellow prussiate
of potash." (198 )
