Montagu style
A style of book decoration deriving its name from
Montagu of the firm Montagu and Johnson, London
bookbinders, who flourished in the later half of
the 18th century. The principal features of the
style are corners and centers filled with stops,
etc., similar to illustrations. The tools used are
mainly of an open leafy description, flowing from
a stem of scroll or curl. (241 )
