map endpapers
Endpapers on which maps are printed. While
frequently adding to the attractiveness of a book,
it is somewhat difficult for the reader to refer
to such maps, a throw-out map being much superior
for practical use. In addition, map endpapers make
rebinding of the book more expensive, as the old
endpapers must be saved, though generally not
again for use as endpapers. The term is also
generally applied to endpapers printed with
charts, graphs, etc.
