A white pigment consisting of a mixture of zinc sulfide (ZnS), barium sulfate (BaSO 4 ) and some zinc oxide (ZnO), and prepared by the cross precipitation of zinc sulfate (ZnSO 4 ) and barium sulfide (BaS), plus the addition of heat. It is used in the manufacture of ink, paint, etc., and as a pigment filler in paper. See also: ZINC SULFIDE .
