job binding
A general term applied to small binding jobs of a
miscellaneous nature. Job binding does not utilize
fully automatic equipment, as is found in large
edition binderies, but relies instead on handwork,
either alone or in conjunction with some machine
operations. The job binder produces smaller lots
of edition bindings and also binding that cannot
be accommodated by automatic equipment, such as
Bibles and prayer books bound YAPP STYLE .
By accepted definition, job binding does not
include LIBRARY
BINDING , although the two are similar in many
respects. (320 , 339 )
