interleaved ( interleaved plate, interleaving )
1. An extra leaf, usually blank, inserted between
the printed leaves of a book, generally for the
writing of notes, or, if thin tissues, to prevent
text and illustration from rubbing together, in
which case it is more appropriately called a BARRIER SHEET . 2. A
plate which has a thin leaf bearing a descriptive
caption pasted to the inner margin. A leaf of
cellophane is a modern version of this. (82 , 234 )
