1. The book size resulting from folding a sheet
one time, giving leaves half the size of the
sheet. In modern practice double-size paper folded
twice, or quad-size paper folded three times would
be used, thus producing the requisite folio size
but in sections convenient for binding.
Abbreviated Fo. or fo. 2. A leaf of parchment or
paper numbered only on the recto side. 3. Loosely,
the number of a page. 4. An individual leaf of a
