degrain

1. To remove the grain from a leather, generally by pressing or rolling the hide or skin under pressure. See: CRUSHED (1) . 2. SUEDE LEATHER finished on the flesh side, the grain layer having been entirely or partially removed, following tannage, by splitting or abrasion. (61 )
