1. A decorative design of variegated patterns or
crocheted compartments on a book cover. 2. A firm,
lustrous fabric made with flat, conventional
patterns in satin weave on a plain-woven ground on
one side and a plain-woven pattern on a satin
ground on the reverse side. It is usually made of
cotton, silk, rayon, or combinations thereof. It
has been used as a book cloth.
