crimping
The process of applying a series of fine creases
or bender marks to the hinges of leaves of
loose-leaf books, the purpose of which is to
enable the leaves to be turned over easily and to
lie flat. The lines of the creasing prevent undue
bulking at the area of crimping. A sufficient
series of creases closely spaced imparts a rolling
effect ensuring a flexibility that is difficult to
obtain by any other means. Cf: SCORE . (264 , 316 )
