alchemic gold
A gold ink composition developed early in the 20th
century as a substitute for imitation gold leaf.
It was said to be "free from acid," as well as
non-tarnishing. Its principal virtue seems to have
been that it eliminated the necessity of sizing,
laying-on, and rubbing off. (164 , 264 )
