57 Evergreen State volunteers reported on 742 outdoor sculptures. At Beaver Lake Park in Issaquah, two totem poles 30 feet high by artist David Boxley are decorated with various animals. The Salmon Legends Totem and the Beaver Legends Totem tell stories from the local Tsimshian tribe. In Kent you can visit an impressive earthwork sculpture by Robert Morris. As part of a landscape reclamation project, the artist restored a 4.5 acre site that featured a gravel pit and a "ghost forest" of 15 tree stumps. Morris beautified the site and made it accessible by installing stairways, a perimeter trail, and interpretive text. This is a fine example of how natural elements can be used to create original works of art.
