Corrections

• In the November issue, at the top of p. 40, "Lasersharp" should be "Laserpoint." This is a Springhill paper.
• In the same list, Union Camp's paper "Georgetown" should be "Yorktown."
• On p. 30 of the September issue, the author's name was omitted from the article entitled "Two Decades of Alkaline Sizing at P. H. Glatfelter Co." The author was Geoffrey W. Atwell, President of Environmental Engineering, Uwchland, PA. [Yes, that town is spelled right.] His article was a write-up of a talk given by Joseph P. MacDowell, Research Project Supervisor at Glatfelter.

Superseded catalogs and directories from the Abbey office are available to whoever can make good use of them. This is like a garage sale, because the items are previously used and there is only one of each.

1. Walden's Paper Catalog, Western Edition, Spring 1991. Lists fine papers alphabetically and by type. A unique feature is a geographical list of distributors for each paper company. $5.
2. 1992 Lockwood-Post's Directory of the Pulp, Paper and Allied Trades. Lists U.S. and Canadian mills geographically and gives management personnel, equipment and products for each. Many other lists are in the volume, e.g. watermarks and brands, market pulp suppliers, and paper merchants by state and city. $17. (Purchase price new was $172.)
3. 1991 Lockwood-Post's Directory.... $10.
4. 1990 Annual Book of ASTM Standards: Vol. 15.09: Paper; Packaging; Flexible Barrier materials; Business Copy Products. This is the volume that contains the standards for accelerated aging and for permanent copy paper, manifold paper, file folders and bond and ledger paper. $7.

The Alkaline Paper Advocate is issued six times a year and has about 500 subscribers. Subscriptions (which include a free pH pen and a list of Useful Addresses) are on a calendar year basis: All start with the first issue of the year, unless otherwise requested, and end on Dec. 31, or after the last issue of the year has appeared. An index for the year is sent out in the first quarter. Individual subscriptions, and uncomplicated subscriptions from institutions, are $35; full-time students $20; others $45. All issues are in print and indexed. Checks should be made out to Abbey Publications, 7105 Geneva Dr., Austin, TX 78723. This is a nonprofit corporation set up to encourage preservation of the written record, including the use of lasting materials in their creation.

No paid advertisements are accepted, but anything with news value will be printed if there is room for it. News items and information may be sent or called in at any time. Readers are encouraged to copy or circulate issues and parts of issues, and to reprint unsigned articles and news items; but the Editor's permission must be obtained for reprinting lengthy or signed articles.
