Mill Conversions

Champion's new mill in Quennesec, Michigan, is in startup mode now, producing alkaline paper made with the pulp from the pulp mill already on the site. The onsite PCC plant is supplying carbonate for both filler and coating. Capacity now is 700 tons per day, will increase later. Other Champion freesheet mills are in Canton, NC; Cantonment, FL (the Pensacola mill); Courtland, AL; and Hamilton, OH. Their combined productive capacity is 4,075 tpd. All of it is slated for alkaline production one day.
