Groundwood And Calcium Carbonate

Manufacture of groundwood papers in the neutral range, permitting the use of calcium carbonate, has begun on this side of the Atlantic. It is not an American invention-Europeans have been doing it for a while. Facts, names, dates and places have not yet been released for publication, but this situation is bound to ease.

A kind of calcium carbonate that can tolerate acid conditions is being developed by Pfizer and is being tried out in several mills.
