pH Pens Available In Quantity

In the last three months, several orders have been filled at the Advocate office for two or three hundred pH pens at the price of 70 a pen. I am working with suppliers to assure good pen available in quantity, filled and labelled by the supplier. If this is possible (and it may not be, because the usual minimum for an order is 100,000 pens), then they can be made available through mail-order houses.

Name Of The News

There have been two responses to the call for a shorter name for the Alkaline Paper Advocate. One was a vote for "Alkaline Rag" and one was a vote against.

List Of Alkaline Papers Available

An alphabetical list of alkaline papers is being shaped up in the office. Eventually it should be sent to all the companies involved, to have then check whether their papers are properly listed. Until then, it will not be printed. But we can send copies to readers on receipt of a stamped self-addressed envelope. This is the format:

Artemis & Artemis Text - Mohawk
Artist Drawing Bristol - Rising
Bellbrook Laid & Opaque - Cross Pointe
Blackstone Ledger - Weston
Bookbinders Matte & Reply Card Matte - Northw
Brite-Hue Envelope & Offset - Ward

Although entries have been combined on each line to save space, there are about 300 lines.

The Alkaline Paper Advocate is issued six times a year (1988 had 5 issues), and has about 250 subscribers. Subscriptions (which include a free pH pen) are on a calendar year basis: All start with the first issue of the year, unless requested otherwise, " end on Dec. 31. An index will be sent to all subscribers in the first quarter of the year. Individual subscriptions, and uncomplicated subscriptions from institutions, are $25; others are $40. Checks should be made out to Abbey Publications, 320 E. Center St., Provo, UT 84606 (801/373-1598).

Overseas subscribers may pay either in dollars or in British pounds. Checks in dollars must bear the name of a U.S. bank. Postal money orders are usually much cheaper than bank drafts.

No paid advertisements are accepted, but anything with news value will be printed if there is room for it. News item and information may be sent by mail or called in at any time, including evenings and weekends. Readers are encouraged to copy or circulate issues and parts of issues, and to reprint unsigned articles and news items; but the Editor's permission must be obtained before reprinting signed articles.
