Senior Lecturer/ Research Fellow
Preservation and Conservation Studies Program,
University of Texas, Austin

The University of Texas at Austin's unique Preservation and Conservation Studies at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science seeks a Senior Lecturer to teach graduate courses in book conservation and conservation management. Preservation and Conservation Studies provides systematic, comprehensive training for preservation administrators and conservators of library and archives materials. The program is funded in part by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. We require expert knowledge of the practical and theoretical characteristics of library and archives collections, the benchwork conservation of books and paper, and the principles and management of whole-collection conservation, plus knowledge of the culture and functions of libraries/ archives, strong teaching skills, and professional stature in the fields of preservation or conservation.

Responsibilities include a nine-month teaching appointment involving curriculum development, laboratory management, and effective mentoring of students and program graduates. Excellent writing and communication skills are essential. MLIS or equivalent conservation degree preferred, with a minimum five years experience at senior level. University of Texas at Austin's top-10 rated library school is the largest in the US and Austin ranks among the 20 most livable cities. Salary commensurate with experience.
