This book reports work done in 1992 and 1993. It was announced on page 91d in the last issue, with the promise that selected reports would be summarized soon. Two of the nine reports have been chosen, because of their relevance to library and archive preservation. (Most of the reports relate to museum conservation.)

There are 23 abstracts here for research work in preventive conservation, three on surveys of methods and materials, 25 on problems and objects, and 11 on historical research, followed by a long list of "other investigations," without abstracts. Most of the work summarized below is in the preventive conservation section. Presumably some of the papers will later be printed in full in a volume of Contributions of the Central Research Laboratory to the Field of Conservation and Restoration.
