Correction

The address of the Pyramid Prints and Paperworks was omitted from an announcement of an event December 1-15 in the last issue. It is: 1601 Guilford Ave., Baltimore, NO 21202 (301/752-1568). Helen C. Fredericks operates it.

See You at ALA, RLG/CC, AIC, ALA...

I plan to attend PLMS meetings at ALA Midwinter in Washington, DC; the next meeting of the Research Libraries Group's Committee on Conservation in March, probably in Chicago; the Nay meeting of the American Institute for Conservation in Washington, DC; and the PLMS meetings at the summer ALA conference in July in Chicago. I will go as a member of each group, for a change. (I usually attend ALA en a press pass.) See you there.

Books Too Good to Review

I have an awful time finding qualified reviewers for publications like The New Bookbinder, the Book and Paper Group Annual, and Science for Conservators, because so many of the experts were involved in producing the work that there are hardly any left over to review it. Some--e.g. the BPG Annual contain new work and research reports from people in different specialties, and are especially hard to evaluate. (How would you evaluate an issue of Scientific American?) In the future they may simply be listed as Essential Publications or Basic Works, with a short annotation.
