"Deacidification of Degraded Linen," by Elizabeth E. Peacock, Studies in Conservation 28: 8-14, 1983. The author reviewed methods of accelerated aging for textiles and chose two methods: 70°C and 50% RH, and 0.01N H2SO4 immersion for six hours. She evaluated the effect of magnesium-based aqueous and nonaqueous deacidification on color, tensile strength, stiffness, pH and weight before and after aging, and concludes that they reduce the rate of deterioration of artificially degraded linen during accelerated aging. This may have relevance to binders' and librarians' search for better bookbinding cloth.
