CONSERVATOR
Leather Conservation Centre

The Centre, a registered charity, wishes to appoint a trained conservator with some experience to undertake scientific investigations relating to the conservation of leather articles which have archaeological, ethnological and historical interest. A sound scientific approach combined with an aptitude for craft work is essential. The conservator's work will be expected to lead to the preparation of monographs and other tutorial material, with development of a consultancy and training service as a longer term objective. Arrangements have been made for the conservator to work at the British Leather Manufacturers' Research Association and to have access to the Association's laboratory, library and other support facilities. A survey, supported by a grant from the Leverhulme Trust, has identified areas of particular interest to museums and thus provides objectives, although a well motivated appointee would not find this unduly restrictive.

The appointment will be negotiable within the range £6.500-18,500 p.a. according to experience.

Please send brief curriculum vitae to LCC, c/o BLMRA, Kings Park Road, Moulton Park, Northampton NN3 lJD, UK. Selected applicants will then be sent further details and an application form. Closing date for receipt of applications is 31 October 1982.
