Bookbinding Class to Start Sept. 16

The next series of bookbinding classes will start on Tuesday September 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the bindery in exter. Like previous classes, this one will meet on four successive Tuesdays, cost 30.00 and be limited to 7 students. Unlike previous classes, it will emphasize methods that require little or no equipment. Students who have already had the basic course are welcome to re-register and brush up on their skills.

If the demand warrants it, there will be a second class, meeting on Thursdays during the same four weeks and covering the same material.

Students learn to take apart, mend and resew a book of their own. They trim, round, and back it, line it up, make and stamp a cover, and case it in (glue the cover onto the book). After finishing the class, they can use the equipment and materials of the shop for a small hourly fee on Saturdays.
