Re: fabric source question

Hi Deborah,
I my seemingly endless searches for velvets, I have found that Christopher Hyland, Inc., 979 Third Avenue  (D& D Building), New York, NY  10022   212 688 6121 has the best selection.  Every sort of fiber, all sorts of weights.  I think they will respond to phone inquiries and send samples.

Good luck to her!
Deborah

Subject: fabric source question

Hi everyone:

I have been contacted by a scenic painter looking for a source for heavy velvet.  She is trying to match an existing 1930’s theater curtain and modern synthetic fabrics aren’t good enough.  Unfortunately, she couldn’t tell me the fiber content….  They do have a dyer so color matching is not part of the issue.  You can see a detail of the old curtain here:

Does anyone have any sources for fabric like this?

Thanks,

Deborah
