Dear All, I have identified a blue polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber in paint on a work of art attributed to the 1950s. Commercial production of PET fibers appears to have been well established by the 1950s. I would like to investigate the fiber further with respect to its age, and am writing to ask whether post-1950s production methods or products may show features, visual or otherwise, that would help in dating.
