Hi Nancy,

A nifty tool that I became aware of
in the last year for hot-melt cutting of polyester Tetex TR is the 'Razertip
Wood Burning System'.   I describe using a heated spatula with a pointed
tip in my Spring 2002, Vol. 41 No. 1 JAIC article:  'Overlay with
a Difference:  Strong Support-Thread Edge Finish forTetex TR.  We
purchased one for our lab and it works very well.  This new tool is
more easily available and is less expensive than the one described in my

We are still accepting information and presenters
for our "Quick Tips" session to be held during the TSG session
at the upcoming AIC Meeting.  Please consider sharing a brief tip
on a material, tool or technique that you have found to be helpful in your
work. Please don't be too modest, and think your idea isn't "good
enough".  This is a relaxed exchange of ideas, meant to stimulate
further discussion and the growth of new ideas, and your input is valued.
 
 
Please also send me the websites or other
contact info for your favorite suppliers, either for hard-to-get materials,
or for supplies at good values.  These will be compiled into a take-home
list to be distributed at the meeting.
 
Please contact me directly if you would like
to present a tip or have supplier information.
