Tape removal
Does anyone have any suggestions for removing very sticky double sided tape
from the edge of a linen sampler. This piece was acquired framed and
"archivaly" mounted circa 1990. When the frame was opened I discovered that
the sampler had been mounted on a dirty scrap of foam core with 1 inch wide
double sided tape around the perimeter of the sampler that extends in about
1/2 inch. The edges of the sampler are raw so the threads are somewhat
loose. I have tried to loosen the adhesive with Isopropyl alcohol, ethyl
alcohol and Stoddards. The Stoddards was the only successful solvent but of
course will leave a greasy residue. Does anyone have any other solvent
suggestions or methods of removal? The sampler contains those green dyed
threads that bleed furiously when exposed to moisture. Thanks for any help!
