RE: Unborn lamb skin

Hi Sue,

I've heard of - "astrokahn" (not sure of the spelling) often used in Central Asia for linings and for hats, which I was told was unborn calf skin but upon reflection after a recent visit to Central Asia it would make sense if it was unborn sheep skin.
Could that be what you have?

Kind regards
Mary

Subject: Unborn lamb skin

Dear Members

We are preparing for display a Chinese coat of embroidered silk fabric and lined with raw wool which appears to be on a very fine skin. The owners say the lining material is wool (and skin) from an unborn lamb. Does anyone know the name/term of this type materal?
