Result of the vote on an amendment to the By-Laws of the Textile Conservation Group,Inc.

Because the next issue of the Textile Conservation 
Group Newsletter will not come out for several weeks,
we are using this forum to inform the membership of 
the TCG and the textile conservation world at large of
the results of the vote on an amendment to the By-Laws
of the Textile Conservation Group,Inc., "Article XIV:
Dissolution of the Textile Conservation Group,Inc." 
After a number of years of dwindling interest and involvement
on the part of the TCG membership, a move was taken
by a portion of the membership to dissolve the TCG and
distribute its assets and interests. As required by the 
organization's by-laws, a petition to authorize the dissolution
of the organization and the formation of a committee to
recommend the manner in which this be carried out, was signed
by 10 members in good standing and presented to the 
membership for a vote.

There are 82 members in good standing of the Textile Conservation
Group,Inc. 31 of them submitted ballots. Of those ballots, 18 were
in favor of the amendment to dissolve the TCG and 13 were opposed.
51 members in good standing did not participate in the vote. 

Because certain members of the TCG Board were concerned that
the language of the ballot was confusing, it was agreed by a vote of the
majority of the Board that the committee be appointed to make
recommendations regarding the distribution of the assets and 
interests of The Textile Conservation Group, Inc., but without the
explicit charge to dissolve the organization at the end of the
membership year.

That committee, which is now in formation, will be asked to report to 
the Board of Directors by 1 July 2002. Any member in good standing of 
The Textile Conservation Group, Inc. who wishes to serve on this
