Internship
Museum Textile Services, a private conservation studio, seeks two full-time
interns to assist with the conservation of grass wall coverings. The
internship will take place at Gillette Castle State Park from September 10
through December 14, 2001. Gillette Castle is located in East Haddam,
Connecticut, ten miles from the Connecticut shore. Work will involve
cleaning, stabilization, reconstruction, and repainting of woven and
nonwoven grass wall panels dating from 1919. Applicants should possess
excellent handling skills, be well organized, and work well in a team.
Ideal for textile, object, or painting conservation students. Knowledge of
basketry or weaving a plus. Pay is commensurate with experience and
